Oil Libya racing academy launched

Libya Oil Kenya will support the development motorsport in the country. This was announced by OiLibya Sales and Marketing Manager, Dr. Macharia Iringu, during the launch of the OiLibya racing academy. The academy which is headed by Kenya's veteran rally driver, Azar Anwar, will provide opportunity for young people interested in rallying to develop their talent. Azar Anwar who entered rallying over three decades ago knows the challenges starters in the sport encounter. This lead him to start an academy where young motorsports enthusiasts can learn the ropes of the sport. Azar is grateful to OiLibya for their support and urges other corporations to come on board too.

On Sunday the 27 September, the academy will hold an amateur rally in Athi River at Bamburi grounds. Many of the participants in Sunday's rally come from the academy.

The academy plans to hold more regular amateur rallies in more parts of the country starting next year. The Athi River rally will be without many restrictions and will see some of participants racing with standard cars. Azar says the only requirement is that the car is fitted with roll bar and safety belts to prevent harm in the event of an accident.
