Title Fight: Evo Versus STi
We love a good fight. Especially if it’s meant to bring out the best among rivals: Boeing-Airbus; Ferrari-Lamborghini; Mercedes-BMW; Novida-Alvaro; Summit-Tusker; and yes, one of the most pronounced in motoring, Subaru-Mitsubishi.
Both brands from Land of the Rising Sun, they have proven rally pedigree and their sophisticated drivelines have split allegiance of rally car devotees down the middle. This rivalry extends to the competition-derived production versions of the Evo and STi. But which car carries the title of the ultimate speed machine? Who has revs to spare and who craves for more? Is it all about flat out speed?
FIVE QUESTIONS FOR Traffic Police Boss Aggrey Adoli
QUESTIONS: Traffic police collect traffic fines in excess of Ksh60 million a year. How is this money spent?
The police being a government department, the revenue that ends in the public coffer, that is, the Consolidated Fund. We collect funds through appropriation in aid in form of fines, forfeitures of cash bails, etc. The money goes to the government where it will be appropriated there. The police have no control of the money they collect so do many other government departments. It is the financial experts at the Treasury who do the budgeting.
A Visit to the Karen Blixen Museum
In view of the harsh economy and the tightening of financial belts thereof, this month we decided to go somewhere in the environs of Nairobi. Saturday morning we were bright and early on Langata Road on the way to the Karen Blixen Museum. I have never heard much about it apart from the fact that the Karen area of Nairobi was named after her and that the famous movie “Out of Africa” was shot here.
